Shavon Norris
Shavon Norris is originally from New York City and received her B.A. in Biology from Manhattanville College in 1998. In 2005, she received her MFA in dance from Temple University. Shavon has performed in works by noted choreographers Merián Soto, Nia Love, Max Luna, Treva Offut, Gabri Crista, Leah Stein, Silvana Cardell, Marlies Yearby, Marianela Boan and Manfred Fischbeck to name a few. Her work has been presented at Manhattanville College, Soshana Theater in New York, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival and at the Art’s Sanctuary in Philadelphia. Shavon worked as Resident Teaching Artist at People’s Light and Theatre Company until 2007 and plans to continue to strengthen her work as a community artist and educator. Currently, she teaches at Independence Charter School and is a New Edge Resident Artist with the Community Education Center.
